Gene Vincent on RAI TV Studios – Rome, Italy 1960: A menacing figure dressed in black leather with an expression of pain, a tortured rebel crouched over microphone shaking his greasy hair and focusing his eyes to heaven…
Shortly after the tragic car crash in Chippenham where Eddie Cochran was killed and his fiancée Sharon Sheeley and Gene Vincent were seriously injured, Gene was back on the stage and, among other things, made a special appearance for the Italian television on 28/5/1960. He performed for the program Boune Valenze, where was backed by the razor-sharp guitar of JOE MORETTI.
Joseph Edward Moretti, born on 10/5/1938 in Glasgow, Scotland, he supplied his guitar for Colin Hicks & His Cabin Boys, Vince Eager, Nero & The Gladiators, Jet Harris & Meehan, etc…and of course, Gene Vincent, to name just a few.
He will always be remembered for play the eternal guitar riffs on Johnny Kidd & the Pirates tune “SHAKIN’ ALL OVER” and Vince Taylor’s 1959 hit “BRAND NEW CADILLAC” (once Tony Sheridan left the Playboys). Both, the greatest British Rock’n’Roll anthems and two of the most influential songs in future generations!
So you are holding now in your hands a slice of ROCK’N’ROLL HISTORY, for first time on 7” vinyl, fruit of the vibrant guitar work of Joe Moretti alongside the energy and rawness of The Screaming End!
A double winner, yes indeed. Whatever you play, BOP side or SHAKE side, it really works!
